Meet Dr. Valarie Anne Yerdon
Born and raised on the Tug Hill Plateau in Osceola, New York, Dr. Valarie Yerdon founded Heart House On The Hill. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this wellness program.
With a PhD in Psychology and expertise in Cognitive and Neuro Psychology, Dr. Yerdon has dedicated over two decades to advocating for mental health and empowering women through faith-led, evidence-based practices. A true focus on a woman speaking and living in her authentic truth, where faith meets psychology and science, in love and the highest vibrations.
From her quiet beginnings at the primary school attendance at the One Room Schoolhouse, as is depicted in the Jewel of Osceola, Lewis County, New York, to her middle and high school in Camden, New York, and onto her college and graduate studies in Syracuse and Florida, she brought with her the resilience and grit learned early on in the small, generationally grounded community.
She knows what it means to start over at a time when it seems it is all planned out in front of you. She knows the difficulty, pain, struggle, and most importantly, the possibility that can be there when we go where God is leading, rather than where we had planned. She incorporates her life experience into every lesson, book, and session, not only speaking the way, but also having lived it – losing everything and having to start over and rediscover what God has planned – and, through this, knowing the path to lead others through.
This is her heart. This is her passion.
From this, The Heart House, LLC, was born, dedicated to bringing healing, health, and authentic living to women of every age and walk of life.
The Heart House Method™ integrates neuroscience and nervous system regulation to create change at the level where your patterns were formed.
-
Dr. Valarie A. Yerdon is the creator of The Heart House Method™, a neuroscience-informed approach to understanding and transforming the patterns that shape how we think, feel, and respond.
With a strong faith in God and a doctoral background in psychology, cognitive science, and neuroscience research, her work bridges the gap between faith, awareness, and real change—integrating the brain, nervous system, and identity to create transformation at the level where patterns form, growing love, high vibrations, healing, and connection.
-
The Heart House, LLC was born from a deeper calling: to create a space where women no longer have to feel stuck in patterns they didn’t choose that came from their human experiences, but can instead experience a sacredly fulfilled, authentic, grounded, and lasting shift into who they truly are in God’s eyes.
-
Dr. Yerdon’s academic journey began later in life, after decades as a teacher, mentor, and entrepreneur, while raising three beautiful sons. As a returning student after the end of her long-term marriage, she began again with her sons, pets, and a veracity to live and model a legacy as she attained her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a minor in Legal Studies, which was immediately followed by a Master’s of Science in Modeling and Simulation for Human Systems at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
She can attest that life is not over in your 40s! She not only returned to complete her B.S. and M.S. at this age as a single mom starting with nothing materially, but was also invited to apply to and accepted into a prestigious, rigorous doctoral program. She accepted this challenge, knowing it would cost time from family, commitment, hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, not only financially, but also personally with family and friends. She successfully defended her dissertation at 54 and walked across the stage at 55, while caring for her family and contributing to the science of her field and passion.
Her research has been pivotal in understanding human-automation and environmental interactions, learning, recall, attention, and training, and has earned her the honor of contributing to projects with the Department of Defense, NASA, NATO, IARPA, and leading industry partners. Notably, her work on eye-tracking as an active indicator of insider threats has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, highlighting her expertise in detecting illicit activities within normal workflows, and she has over 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications and internationally presented works.
